Wedding planning part 2

27 Mar

Thought i might give some detail of the wedding plans

1.Venue complete! We chose to go with the University hotel which is brand new, expensive and pretty special. Many people get married here as it is pretty swanky and close to town.

2. dresses in progress One dress has been reserved for my use, and another will be made soon enough. Its tradition to wear two on the day, so it should be interesting. One White, and one red.

3. weight incomplete I have practically given up on this! Just going to eat healthy and see how we go.

4. hotels complete! Hotel for family is booked. Not yet paid for, but will be soon.

5. reception details complete! Finally found a wedding company to do our decorating and so on. We will even have a cake!

6. cars incomplete Looking for to hire two high end cars to chauffeur us on the wedding day.

7. hire of bus complete Bus has been booked to take us too and from Beijing.

8. Music incomplete I don’t even know why i wrote music here… Meh, must be a good reason..

9. rent of secondary house organised Using a friends house in the same housing block as us.

10. Tours booked Still have’nt paid for it, but two tours are booked for family. One to Jinan, the other for all of us to Tai an.

11. photos inprogress Getting done monday!! yeah!

Miscellaneous other things.  incomplete wine, lollies, shoes, etc

Anyway, there is still a lot to do at only 6 weeks out. I am freaking out. but Huaiqian will take holidays soon to go and buy all of the necessary things. hopefully he can get things done nicely…(tell you the truth i am super anxious)

wedding update 1

19 Feb

So the wedding planning is finally coming along now that Chinese new year is over. From today there is roughly 10 weeks until the big day. Here is what we have so far:

1.Venue complete

2. dresses incomplete

3. weight incomplete

4. hotels complete

5. reception details incomplete

6. cars incomplete

7. hire of bus incomplete

8. Music incomplete

9. rent of secondary house incomplete

10. Pre-wedding photos inprogress

Well this is OK i guess as the photos are booked for April, when the weather is nicer, and #2, 5, 6, and 8 are all organised by a wedding planner as soon as we find one

however I must add a number 11: which will be family tours as incomplete for now. The cost of the wedding is slowly rising though, we had to make a compromise of adding 100yuan per table for the reception but the venue is fantastic… Maybe i should give a breakdown of each aspects and the costs, but i don’t know if people would actually be interested in reading that, or if I just really like to make lists! haha

Freaking out about the wedding. pt.1

12 Jan

Just a quick one to say, Its 5 mths until we plan to tie the knot in a beautiful and elaborate ceremony that will shock and awe the pants of my visiting relatives (12 people flying in  from Australia) and we have prepared…NOTHING! aaaaaargh! I think the next few blogs will be some montages of wedding ideas. Please bear with with me as i try to organise my life!

On some of my next few posts you will see something like this:

1.Venue incomplete

2. dresses incomplete

3. weight incomplete

4. hotels incomplete

5. reception details incomplete

6. cars incomplete

7. hire of bus incomplete

8. Music incomplete

9. rent of secondary house incomplete

10. Pre-wedding photos incomplete

As things are completed (hopefully) I can begin to tick them off and perhaps explain a few of them as i go!

Hot Pot home style

9 Jan

In China, some things are so delicious when you go to the restuarant, that sometimes you want to try it at home. Usually this either ends in disaster or at least not as delicious as you thought. I am happy to say, Home made Hot pot is just as good (if not better) than store bought. here is our ingredients. p.s This is just a sample, you can use practically anything!
1. 山药 Chinese Yam
2.地瓜 Sweet potato
3.粉丝 glass noodles
4.白菜 cabbage
5. Hot pot seasoning packet (contains oil and stock)
6.剃肉 shaved meat (frozen)
7. 花生酱 peanut sauce (essentially oily peanut butter)
8.野山椒 little green peppers (sweet and hot!)
9.辣椒酱 spice paste
10. Assorted frozen meatballs/ tofu bites
11.腐竹 tofu skin
12. 金菇 Enoki mushroom
13. 菠菜 spinach leaves
14. Pot with water, two slices of ginger, a crushed clove of garlic and a small handful of goji berries.  All Resting on an electric induction cooker.

I would love to be able to replicate this in Australia but i think there may be one too many specialist materials ( like peanut sauce, and the induction cooker particularly)
Anyway, its all delicious, and healthy too!
